This decade has been quite a long one. We have seen popular franchises shut down and bankrupt, and we have seen franchises rise from the ground and make themselves known. Let’s end this decade by going through and looking at the franchises that had the most growth this decade.

First on the list, Taco Bell. Taco Bell was founded in 1962 and has only grown as a franchise since then. This is everyone’s favorite Mexican fast food restaurant. They know that they can rely on Taco Bell to deliver them the best tacos in a hurry. Something people might not know, Taco Bell started as a hot dog stand. Glen Bell wanted to have an alternative hot dog stand and started selling tacos for 19 cents. They became a very popular menu item and soon Bell was able to open Taco Tia. After a few years, Bell found someone to partner with and Taco Bell was officially born.

Sonic Drive In. Sonic was founded in 1953, taking to the name Top Hat Drive In. It was in 1959 that the name Sonic was actually introduced. The business is best known for drive in fast food, it gives you vintage vibe when you order food from in your car and then having it brought out to you. They also include a lot of strange menu items that you would not be able to find at another fast food restaurant. This could be one of the reasons why Sonic really started to grow in the 2010s.

Dunkin’ Donuts. This franchise has been around since 1950 and the original name was The Open Kettle. The Open Kettle was around for 2 years before the owners decided that they wanted to change their name, this is how Dunkin’ Donuts was born. This franchise, while not as known as Krispy Kreme, is growing quite fast. This could be for a number of reasons, but the coffee and donuts are definitely a big part of their popularity.

Last, we have McDonald’s. McDonald’s has been around since 1955, and this franchise continues to take over the globe as it rakes in customers from all around the world. McDonald’s is the largest franchise on this list, so it’s no mystery how it ended up in first place on this list.

There you have it, the most growth in restaurant franchises in the 2010’s. This has been a long decade, but we are sure to see even more franchise growth in the 2020’s. We’ll check back with these businesses in the next decade.
