5 Times When You Should Celebrate With Smoking a Cigar

We all know about the dangers of smoking, but every once in a while, it’s nice to throw care to the wind and enjoy the finer things in life. For us, nothing quite beats a great cigar.

If you’re new to cigars, you might be surprised to know that the United States government recently lifted their trade embargo with Cuba, so you can now enjoy a legendary Cuban cigar (which, incidentally goes splendidly with a snifter of Cuban rum). However, cigar critics, including the one who wrote this New York Times piece, are suggesting that Cuba may no longer produce the world’s best cigars.

No matter your preferred style of cigar, we recommend saving them for truly special occasions (both for your health, and to make the experience more special). Here are our top 5 occasions to enjoy with a cigar (in no particular order of importance).

College Graduation

Ah, college graduation…a celebration signifying you’ve trudged through year after year of finals, midterms, early morning classes (and maybe a bad hangover or two, if we’re being entirely honest). The feeling of joy and relief you get when you toss your mortarboard in the air is a great accompaniment for a fine cigar.

Marriage (or Bachelor/Bachelorette Parties)

Weddings are one of life’s most joyous occasions; however, even a small ceremony involves a lot of stress. What better way to unwind than to enjoy a cigar with your new spouse (or with your friends at your bachelor or bachelorette party if your spouse does not approve)?

Birth of a Child

You were probably waiting for this one–childbirth is a traditional cigar-enjoying event.
Perhaps it’s because it’s such miraculous and joyous event, but it’s pretty darned stressful too. If you really want to live it up, don’t get the standard “It’s a Boy” or “It’s a Girl” cigars. Splurge for something a little tastier and more refined.

Winter Holidays

A cigar can be a great capstone for the holiday season, or even a fun diversion for a small group of friends at a holiday party. If you live in a warm enough area, you can enjoy a nice cigar on your porch or patio. If it’s snowy and windy, you may need to find a cigar club (or a cigar-loving friend with a fan).

Job Promotions & Raises

Last but not least in our list of cigar-worthy events is learning that you’re getting a raise or job promotion. After all, you’ve got a little extra money and that “top of the world” feeling that a cigar complements so well.

No matter the occasion, we hope you find a great cigar to enjoy!
